Let me just begin by saying that I absolutely love this particular smoothie, it by far the easiest and yummiest green smoothie I have tried with the minimalist effort in gathering the ingredients and chopping some. Its my go to smoothie recipe when I do not have time in the morning or for the times (read weekends) when I couldn’t be bothered to go fancy with my breakfast.
There was time that I never believed in breakfasts!! I did not like the whole idea of breakfasts, a friend of mine would always try to convince me on – how breakfast is the “most important” meal of the day :D. But I never gave in, I would have a fruit or a toast once in a while or have a really early lunch followed later by light evening snack and a light dinner. I have taken a “U” turn since then, from not having the breakfast at all to I love me some breakfast, where is my breakfast, what am I going to eat for breakfast this weekend? Well you get the idea! The husband and I have even made a few weekend breakfast traditions of our own and we both love to wake up super early in the morning, head to the kitchen in our PJ’s and whip up pancakes, freshly squeezed juices, POHA (savory flattend rice flakes Indian breakfast) and may be try a new smoothie recipes!
Trying to grab breakfast before you run out of the door in the morning seems like a daunting task and then there is this dreaded question of “what should I make for breakfast today?” ugghhh! Then an idea of smoothie flashes in your brain and you tell your half asleep self – I can do this, just throw everything in the blender and whirl away.
This smoothie recipe I came across from MommyTang, she has her youtube channel and makes amazing vegan Korean dishes. Plus, I adore her story time and mukbangs. This smoothie has total of 5 ingredients, if you choose you can add your favorite type of protein powder as well. But even if you don’t add the protein powder, this gives a huge energy boost.
I make it with my favorite choice of milk – SILK NUT MILK but you can always make it with regular milk, I make it for him using regular milk and there isn’t a huge difference in the taste. But highly recommend making it with almond milk or cashew milk. Also, I am using coconut sugar for this, I love the taste of it but you can always add sugar/sweeter of your choice or NOT add at all.
Lets jump on to the recipe! I hope you’ll like it and make it …………
- 2½ cups of nut milk [ replace it with your choice of milk ]
- 3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
- 1 scoop protein powder [ I use VEGA Protein Powders ]
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar [ replace with choice of sweetener ]
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- handful of baby spinach [ about 2 cups, can add more if you like ]
- =================================
- Make it for 1 person -
- 1½ cup of nut milk [ replace it with your choice of milk ]
- ½ scoop protein powder [ I use VEGA Protein Powders ]
- 1 ripe banana, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1½ teaspoon coconut sugar [ replace with choice of sweetener ]
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Put all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
If you add protein powder to this than choose one that has neutral flavor, not super overpowering unless thats what you like in your smoothies regularly, I like to add protein powder that has more vanilla base.
